THE ARTIST BEHIND LA SENTÍO
She wasn't born into flamenco. She earned her way into it.
It was the Farrucos who gave Irene the name “La Sentío,” recognizing in her an innate musical sense that would become central to her artistic identity.

She chose the harder way in.
Born in Italy into a musical family, Irene spent fifteen years studying classical piano before flamenco changed the direction of her life. She moved to Seville and entered a world she had not been born into, training with great masters and earning her place through years of discipline, performance and immersion.
For more than twenty years, she has built her career from inside Seville's professional flamenco world — and she's still there. She continues to perform in Seville and on international stages across Europe, the United States, Canada, Japan and India, while creating and teaching.
She didn't inherit the codes. She had to decode them.
The stage is where that knowledge was forged. The classroom is where she passes it on. Irene learned to understand the things that many dancers absorb without ever having to explain — how to listen to the cante, how the compás works, when to respond, when to hold back, and how structure creates the freedom to improvise.

IRENE’S METHOD
From experience to understanding.
She teaches in English, Spanish, Italian and Greek, working with students from complete beginners to professional dancers.
But her teaching isn't about giving you more combinations to remember.
It's about helping you understand what you're hearing, why you're moving, and how to respond when the choreography ends.
